On-Demand Automated Voice Messaging

Compliance with Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standard
is the latest milestone in on-demand provider's ongoing security strategy

BURLINGTON, Mass. - August 7, 2007 - SoundBite Communications Inc., a leading provider of on-demand automated voice messaging solutions, today announced its compliance as a service provider under the Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standard.  Compliance with the industry standard is a critical requirement. in order for any merchant or service provider to process, store, or transmit cardholder data.

The PCI Data Security Standard is a set of comprehensive requirements for enhancing payment account data security that was developed by the founding payment brands of the PCI Security Standards Council, including American Express, Discover Financial Services, JCB, MasterCard Worldwide and Visa International.  This latest milestone in SoundBite's ongoing security strategy demonstrates that the on-demand provider supports the best practices developed by the PCI Security Standards Council to protect sensitive payment card information from being compromised.

SoundBite Enhances Support for Payment Transactions
Many of SoundBite's premier clients include financial institutions, credit card lenders, and other secure enterprises that process cardholder information.  More frequently those clients are asking SoundBite to manage a larger part of these transactions.  Compliance with the PCI Data Security Standard has enhanced SoundBite's ability to conduct more complex customer contact campaigns and support agentless transactions such as credit card payments and other payments through SoundBite's Agentless Direct Collect autopayment interface.

"Our PCI compliance, coupled with our annual SAS 70 audits, assures our clients in financial services, and other heavily regulated industries, that we have the necessary safeguards in place to securely capture and store credit card numbers and other personal account numbers," said Ed Gardner, Information Security Officer at SoundBite Communications.  "We continually evolve our long-term security plan to align our people, processes, and strategies with industry standards and certifications that will provide our clients with complete assurance that their customer data is secure and protected."

SoundBite's Commitment to Security
SoundBite has adopted a three-pronged security platform that includes the safeguarding of customer data, systems infrastructure, and physical locations; the continual testing and review of those safeguards; and security awareness and training for its employees and subcontractors.  Additionally, SoundBite has selected security technologies and protocols that have been adopted by some of the leading organizations around the globe such as data encryption and firewalls, background checks for employees and contractors, video surveillance and restricted access to facilities.
