User Interface Designer

Job Summary:
SoundBite Communications is looking for a User Interface Designer with strong experience working with human factors and creating and improving the user experience for SoundBite’s customers.

Key Functions/Responsbilities:

• Work closely with SoundBite Engineering, Product Management, Client Management and customers to optimize the user experience for our customers
• Communicate and validate designs by creating user task flows, wire frames, prototypes, and user interface design specifications.
• Gather user data by employing the methodologies of task analysis and participatory design.
• Deliver wireframe design documents within short product cycles using Visio
• Remain current in usability-related research and developments.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years experience performing user experience design work—requirements documentation, site maps, wire frames, prototypes, functional specifications and style standards.
•  Solid understanding of the research literature in the usability field.
•  5+ years of HTML, CSS and Photoshop.

• Communicating requirements and design solutions to others both in person and in writing is a core competency for this position.
• Expertise in the iterative design process and good Information Architecture principles. 
• Ability to develop HTML prototypes for integration into a product is also required.
• You should also be adaptable, a fast learner, and open to working on a variety of diverse work opportunities.
• Initiative, can-do attitude and creative problem solving skills a must.
• Excellent soft skills and the proven ability to work with others in a consultative capacity required. This includes excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to quickly build rapport and forge strong working relationships.
• Experience working with product management to define the user experience and deliver UI requirements to Engineering
• Must possess solid working experience delivering wireframe design documents within short product cycles using Visio
• Experience working with Engineering to develop a scalable, standards based and flexible UI architecture
• Solid working experience using stylesheets to create style patterns and meet branding strategy including resolving client header integration issues
• Solid experience directing development of standards based, cross-browser HTML templates for Engineering deliverables
• Remain current in usability-related research and developments.
• Strong oral and written communication skills. You must be able to communicate design ideas to the internal development and product management teams.
• Functional knowledge of web development technologies including AJAX, DHTML and Javascript a plus
