SoundBite pays $3.2M for California's SmartReply

June 9, 2011 - SoundBite Communications Inc. of Bedford has acquired the key assets of mobile marketing company SmartReply for $3.2 million in cash and an undisclosed earn-out amount based on revenue goals.

California-based SmartReply brings approximately 40 customers to SoundBite (Nasdaq: SDBT), including retailer FashionBug, according to a release from SoundBite. As part of the deal, Mike Romano, co-founder and the former executive vice president of sales of SmartReply, has joined SoundBite as senior vice president of mobile sales and services, a new unit within the company.
