Irvine's SmartReply gets snapped up for $3.2 million

SoundBite Communications' acquisition of the local firm boosts its presence in the mobile marketing industry.

June 9, 2011 - SoundBite Communications has purchased key assets of Irvine's SmartReply for $3.2 million. The acquisition is expected to boost the Massachusetts-based firm's position in the mobile marketing industry and increase its presence in the retail market.

SmartReply provides mobile marketing services for 40 companies, including a number of top retailers in North America. The company has worked with firms such as Fashion Bug, a 700-store women's apparel retailer, and Lane Bryant. SoundBite specializes in cloud-based customer communications products that allow businesses to reach their clients more efficiently, according to the company.
