Job Summary
The Director of Channel Development will lead the effort to target, build relationships with, recruit and ramp business partners to accelerate SoundBite’s revenue growth via penetration into Core Target Markets and New Markets.

  • Core Target Markets include Financial Services, Telecom, Media, Retail, and Energy/Utilities
  • New Markets include Emergency Notifications, Healthcare and International

Business Partners fall into three categories: 

  • Referral Partners – refer leads to SoundBite’s sales organization.  SoundBite leads selling and customer support efforts.
  • Resellers – partner leads sales effort and provides 1st level customer support.
  • OEMs – integrate their product offering to SoundBite’s via our API.  Partner performs all selling and customer support activity.

Key Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Establish a prioritized target list of business partners by understanding opportunities across 3 key dimensions:
    • Vertical (e.g. financial services, retail, telecom…)
    • Application (e.g. loyalty program, emergency notifications, collections…)
    • Product (e-mail, analytics…)
  • Establish the required sales collateral and tools to facilitate the business partner recruiting process
  • Ramp signed partners via “Go-to-Market” plan execution, including working with Marcom to develop requisite sales tools and collateral and with the Sales team, wherever appropriate
  • Involve key members of the SoundBite team in the targeting, recruiting and ramping process. 
  • Manage the process to keep the target list prioritized and updated.
  • Goals will be based on appropriate blend of revenue generated via Business Partners and number of target Business Partners signed.

Qualifications
Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors Degree, MBA a plus
  • 10+ years demonstrated track record of success in sales, business development, and ideally channel development roles

Competencies and Attributes:

  • Understanding of proactive customer communications is a plus
  • Understanding of the on-demand or SaaS business model is a plus
  • Understanding of one or more of our key target markets is a plus (e.g. financial services, retail, telecom, emergency notifications, healthcare…)
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written. 
  • Must be highly collaborative
  • Ability to develop strong “partnership” relationships with the executive team
  • Ability to lead and influence cross-functionally
