Software Quality Assurance Engineer
Job Summary:
The successful Software Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer candidate will work with the Engineering Group of SoundBite Communications and have the opportunity to get in on the ground floor of developing an Open Source automated testing system that will significantly contribute to the efficiency and timeliness of our developers’ efforts, in getting new products and features to our customers. This effort is considered high profile and high priority among our Engineering VPs. The successful candidate will have an interest in programming, as he/she will be developing a new Open Source automated testing system, and not just dealing with an off the shelf product..
Key Functions/Responsbilities:
- Develop manual and automated tests for the SoundBite Applications in an environment where testing requirements and processes may not be well defined
- Utilize understanding of commonly accepted QA techniques and methodologies to develop test cases and scripts
- Develop automated test scripts using Open Source testing tools
- Modify testing harnesses by tapping into an elementary knowledge of programming languages such as Java and Perl
- Perl and Shell scripting
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:- BS in CS or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of experience working in a software QA environment
- SQL database query experience
- Professional experience working with automation tools (commercial or open source)
- Experience in implementing test scripts
- Experience writing test plans from requirements and technical documents and by inspection of the application.
- Professional experience with junit/jprobe and other white box testing tools
- Effective communication skills (verbal and written).
- Has an interest in programming
- Creative and team oriented
- Posesses the collective vision of creating an environment that will allow SoundBite to bring new features to the market faster and meet the market demand more timely
- Understanding of industry standard QA techniques and methodologies
